Tankless Water Heater Installation & Repair in Moore, OK

Before you buy into tankless water heaters in Moore, it helps to know what is in the water. The city pumps much of its supply from groundwater wells, and those minerals end up as scale inside a tankless heat exchanger. We install, repair and descale tankless units with that in mind, and we check the gas line first, because many older Moore homes were not piped for one.

Moore's water and the tankless heat exchanger

Moore pumps most of its own water. According to the 2025 report from the Moore Public Works Authority, 23 groundwater wells feed the system, topped up with water bought from Oklahoma City. A USGS study of the Central Oklahoma aquifer those wells draw from measured more calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate in its shallower water, and those are exactly the minerals that turn to scale when water is heated fast.

A tankless heater heats water as it flows through a narrow heat exchanger, so the minerals have very little room to hide. Scale builds on the hot surfaces, the unit has to work harder to reach temperature, and eventually it starts throwing error codes, fluctuating between hot and cold, or shutting down. On a tank heater, sediment collects at the bottom. On a tankless unit, scale narrows the exact passages the water has to move through. That is why regular tankless water heater flushing and descaling is worth keeping up with in Moore.

Tankless water heater flushing and descaling

Descaling is a maintenance visit, not a repair. We isolate the unit with its service valves, connect a pump and circulate a descaling solution through the heat exchanger to dissolve the mineral buildup, then flush it with clean water. While it is open we clean the inlet water filter, check the flow sensor and igniter, and look for leaks at the fittings. If you have a water softener or a whole-house filter, we check how it is working, since it changes how often descaling is needed.

Installing tankless in an older Moore house

Census estimates date roughly half of Moore's houses to the three decades from 1960 to 1989. Most of those were plumbed for a tank heater in a garage or hall closet, with gas piping sized for that load. A tankless conversion in one of those houses usually involves three checks:

  • Gas supply. Meter capacity, pipe size and run length to deliver the unit's full firing rate.
  • Venting. Sealed vent pipe to an outside wall or roof, with clearances from windows and doors.
  • Condensate. High-efficiency units drain acidic condensate, which needs a proper drain route and, often, a neutralizer.

Newer homes rebuilt after the 2013 tornado sometimes have an easier path, with shorter runs and room on an exterior wall. Either way, we confirm it before you order a unit.

Signs your tankless unit needs service

  • Error codes for overheating, flame failure or low flow
  • Water that swings between hot and cold mid-shower
  • Hot water that takes longer to arrive than it used to
  • The unit shutting down when two fixtures run at once
  • Rumbling, whistling or a burning smell from the unit

Freeze protection for exterior units

In the February 2021 cold, when the Oklahoma Climatological Survey logged minus 14°F in Oklahoma City, an outdoor tankless unit that lost power had no defense. Built-in freeze protection depends on electricity. We insulate exposed water and condensate lines and show you how to drain the unit in a power outage. Why Moore calls us for tankless water heaters

40+ yrs

We check the gas line before the sale

A gas tankless heater can need far more gas when it fires than the tank it replaces, and the piping in a 1970s Moore house was sized for a smaller load. We bring 40-plus years to that question, and we check the meter, the line size and the run length before recommending a unit. If the gas line needs upsizing, you know that before installation day, not after.

Since 1985

Maintenance that fits Moore water

Tankless units reward regular care and punish neglect. Our plumbing experience since 1985 has shown how mineral-rich water can choke a heat exchanger until the unit throws error codes and short-cycles. We flush and descale on a schedule that fits your water and use, clean the inlet filter, and check the flow sensor and igniter while the unit is open, so small problems stay small.

24/7

Help when the hot water stops

When a tankless unit locks out on a cold morning, you want answers, not a phone tree. We answer 24/7, and same-day service is often available in Moore. We are licensed and insured, customers rate us 4.9 stars across 88 Google reviews, and financing is available for a new tankless installation. Many lockouts trace back to scale or a dirty inlet filter, and we can often clear them in one visit.

These guys were great! A breath of fresh air from the usual contractor/service. They cared about fixing the problem not how much they can charge. I had a same day service need, leak in between floors, the day before a trip. They came out same day and presented multiple solutions as well as keen explanations.

Tankless Water Heaters in Moore: common questions

How often should a tankless water heater be flushed in Moore?

Manufacturers call for periodic flushing and descaling, and how often depends on how hard your water is and how much hot water you use. Moore's supply comes partly from groundwater wells that carry dissolved minerals, so many households here benefit from a regular schedule. We can look at your unit and your water and recommend an interval that fits.

Can I put a tankless water heater in an older Moore home?

Usually yes, but the gas line and venting often need work. A gas tankless unit needs a gas supply sized for its full firing rate, and older homes were piped for a tank heater. Venting is also different, since many tankless units use sealed vent pipe out a wall or roof. We check both before you commit.

Will a tankless water heater freeze?

Most units have built-in freeze protection that works only while they have power and, on gas units, gas. Exterior units and condensate lines on outside walls are at the most risk during a power outage in a hard freeze. We insulate exposed lines and show you how to drain the unit if you lose power in a cold snap.
