Slab Leak Detection & Repair in Moore, OK

Slab leak repair in Moore starts with the ground under the house. The clay here swells when it rains and shrinks when it dries, and the water lines buried in the slab ride along with it. After enough seasons a joint gives, or copper wears through where it rubs concrete. We find the leak precisely, then fix it the way that makes sense for your house.

Why Moore slabs leak

Moore is built on the same clay-rich ground found across central Oklahoma, and that clay changes volume with moisture. In its summary of the state's geologic hazards, the Oklahoma Geological Survey warns that expansive soil soaked by rain, sprinklers or a leaking sewer can do major damage. A slab-on-grade house rests directly on that soil, and the water lines poured into or under the slab move with it.

The weather here makes those swings sharp. A long, dry summer pulls moisture out of the clay and the ground shrinks. Then a cloudburst soaks it and it swells. Easter weekend 2025 brought close to five inches in roughly 90 minutes at one Moore-area gauge, News 9 reported. Each cycle flexes buried pipe a little. Over decades, joints loosen and copper lines wear thin where they press against concrete or gravel.

Age adds up too. Census estimates place about half of Moore's homes in the 1960 to 1989 range, and many of those slabs may still carry their original copper supply lines. Hot water lines tend to fail first, since heat expands and contracts the pipe on every use.

Signs of a slab leak

  • A warm or hot spot on the floor, often in a hallway, kitchen or bathroom
  • The sound of running water with every fixture off
  • A water meter that keeps turning when nothing is in use
  • Damp carpet, lifting floor tiles or a musty smell with no visible cause
  • A water heater that runs more than it should
  • Cracks in the floor or walls that show up along with any of the above

How we find and fix it

  1. Confirm the leak. We check the meter and pressure test hot and cold lines separately to see which one is losing water.
  2. Pinpoint it. Acoustic listening and thermal imaging narrow the leak to a small area of the slab.
  3. Choose the repair. A spot repair through the floor, or a reroute that abandons the leaking line.
  4. Repair and test. We fix the line, pressure test it again and patch the concrete.

Reroutes and the attic freeze problem

Rerouting a line through walls and the attic avoids breaking the slab, and it is often the better choice for a line that has already leaked. In Moore it comes with a catch: an attic is outside the heated space. During the February 2021 freeze, which reached minus 14°F in Oklahoma City, unheated spaces were where lines froze, and IBHS research says southern-home pipes are at risk once it drops to about 20°F. We run reroutes as low in the attic as practical, bury them in insulation on the warm side and keep them away from soffit vents.

Why Moore calls us for slab leak repair

40+ yrs

Pinpointed, not guessed

Breaking a slab in the wrong place is expensive and messy. Drawing on more than 40 years in plumbing, our process confirms the leak with a pressure test before anyone touches concrete. Then we use acoustic listening and thermal imaging to narrow it to a small spot, so if we do open the floor, the opening is as small as the repair allows.

Licensed

The right repair for the house

Some slab leaks are easier to fix through the floor, and some lines are better abandoned and rerouted. Our licensed plumbers walk you through both options with the tradeoffs plain: flooring, drywall, how long the rest of the pipe is likely to last, and freeze risk if a new line goes overhead. We are licensed and insured, and financing is available.

24/7

Water on the floor tonight?

A slab leak that starts pushing water through tile or carpet is an emergency. Someone answers every hour of the day, and same-day slab leak service is often possible in Moore. On the phone we will tell you how to shut off the water and, for a hot line, the water heater, so the damage stops while we head your way. Customers rate us 4.9 stars across 88 Google reviews.

These guys were great! A breath of fresh air from the usual contractor/service. They cared about fixing the problem not how much they can charge. I had a same day service need, leak in between floors, the day before a trip. They came out same day and presented multiple solutions as well as keen explanations.

Slab Leak Repair in Moore: common questions

What are the signs of a slab leak in a Moore home?

The most common signs are a warm spot on a tile or wood floor, the sound of running water when everything is off, a water meter that keeps moving, damp carpet or a musty smell with no visible source, and a water bill that jumps for no reason. Hot water lines often show up first, as a warm floor or a water heater that seems to run constantly.

Why are slab leaks common in Moore?

The ground under Moore is largely clay that swells when it gets wet, and the Oklahoma Geological Survey counts that kind of soil among the state's geologic hazards. As the ground under a slab moves, it stresses the water lines inside the concrete, and older copper lines can wear through where they rub against it.

Is rerouting better than breaking the slab?

It depends. If one leak sits in an otherwise healthy line, a spot repair through the floor is often simpler. If the line has leaked before or the pipe is in poor shape, rerouting it through walls and the attic avoids the slab altogether. In Moore that new line must be well insulated, because attic pipes are exposed in a hard freeze.
