Faucet & Sink Repair in Oklahoma City, OK

Good faucet and sink repair in Oklahoma City happens under the sink as much as above it. A drip from the spout, a puddle in the cabinet and a faucet that barely flows are three different problems with three different fixes. We track down which part failed, repair it with the right cartridge or seal, and leave the cabinet dry.

What's included in our faucet and sink repair in Oklahoma City

We work on kitchen, bathroom, bar, laundry and utility sinks, and on the faucets that serve them:

  • Faucet repairs. Cartridges, stems, washers, O-rings, handles and diverters for sprayers.
  • Flow problems. Cleaning or replacing clogged aerators and checking supply valves that are only partly open.
  • Supply side. New braided supply lines and quarter-turn shutoff valves.
  • Drain side. P-traps, slip nuts, tailpieces, pop-up stoppers and leaking drain baskets.
  • Faucet replacement when repair no longer makes sense.

Signs you need faucet or sink repair

  • A spout that drips after the handle is closed
  • Water seeping from the base of the faucet or around the handle
  • A handle that is stiff, loose or hard to set to the right temperature
  • Weak or sputtering flow from one faucet
  • A damp cabinet floor, a musty smell or a warped shelf under the sink
  • A sprayer that leaks or will not divert water

Faucet types and how they fail

Knowing the design tells us which part is worn before we take anything apart.

Faucet typeHow to spot itWhat usually wears out
CompressionTwo handles you tighten down to closeRubber washers and valve seats
CartridgeOne or two handles that move smoothlyThe cartridge and its O-rings
BallA single handle over a rounded capSprings, seats and the cam seal
Ceramic discA single lever over a wide cylinderInlet seals, or a disc cracked by debris

Many name-brand faucets use a cartridge made for that one product line, so we identify the brand and model before we order or swap parts. A faucet that drips only on the hot side, or only on the cold, tells us which half of the valve has worn.

Kitchen faucets, bathroom faucets and tub spouts

Each kind of faucet has its own weak spots. On kitchen faucets, pull-down and pull-out sprayers use a flexible hose under the sink that can wear through, kink or leak at its quick-connect fitting, and older side sprayers depend on a diverter that sticks with mineral buildup. Bathroom faucets tend to leak around the handle or at the pop-up stopper rod under the basin. Tub and shower faucets hide their cartridge behind the wall, so a drip from the tub spout or showerhead means pulling the trim and replacing the cartridge or stem from the front. In most cases we can do that from the front without opening the tile.

When the sink itself needs repair

Sometimes the faucet is fine and the sink is the problem. Undermount sinks can sag or pull away from the countertop when the clips or adhesive fail, which lets water run down into the cabinet. Old caulk lines crack and let water get under the rim. Bathroom sinks with an overflow hole can leak where the overflow channel meets the drain. A drain flange that has worked loose drips every time the basin is full. We reset, reseal or resecure the sink, and if a basin is cracked, we replace it and reconnect the plumbing.

Leaks under the sink

A wet cabinet can come from four or five places, and a quick wipe and look usually finds it. Supply lines crack with age, especially old plastic ones, and a burst line under a sink can flood a kitchen fast. Shutoff valves leak at the stem or freeze in place; the plumbing code Oklahoma uses requires a shutoff on the supply to each fixture other than tubs and showers, and we make sure yours works. P-traps leak at loose slip nuts or rust through if they are old metal. Drain baskets leak when the putty or gasket under the rim dries out.

Kitchen sinks add more connections. A dishwasher drain hose and a garbage disposal both tie into the drain, and either one can leak where it joins.

Our faucet and sink repair process

  1. Find the source. We dry everything, run water and watch where the leak starts.
  2. Shut off and protect. We close the stops, cover the countertop and plug the drain so small parts cannot fall in.
  3. Identify the faucet. Make and design tell us which cartridge or seal it takes.
  4. Repair or replace parts with exact matches.
  5. Test hot and cold at full flow, then check every connection under the sink for drips.

Repair or replace the faucet?

Repairing a quality faucet is usually the better value. Replacing it is the better choice when the body is corroded, the finish is flaking or parts are discontinued. The plumbing code limits sink faucets to 2.2 gallons per minute at 60 psi. EPA WaterSense bathroom faucets go further, at a maximum of 1.5 gallons per minute, which EPA says can cut a sink's flow by 30 percent or more and save the average family 700 gallons a year. If you are updating several fixtures, our fixture installation service handles the whole bathroom or kitchen.

What affects the cost of faucet and sink repair

  • The part. A washer costs less than a brand-specific cartridge.
  • Access. Corroded nuts behind a deep basin or a tight vanity take longer.
  • Extras. New shutoff valves, a trap or a replacement faucet add to the job.

You get the price for your actual repair before we start, and financing is available for larger jobs.

Faucet and sink problems in Oklahoma City homes

In older Oklahoma City homes, galvanized supply pipe can shed rust and scale into aerators and cartridges, so a faucet that keeps clogging may be telling you about the pipes behind the wall. Any time water service is shut off and restored, whether for a city main repair or work in your own house, loosened sediment can land in the same places. If every faucet in the house runs weak, it is time to look at water pressure repair instead of the fixtures. And if the sink drains slowly no matter what, the clog is further down the line, where drain cleaning takes over. To see who you are hiring, read about our team.

Why Oklahoma City chooses us for faucet & sink repair

Since 1985

The right part, not a close match

Faucets use dozens of different cartridges, stems and seals, and a part that almost fits will leak again in a month. Our plumbing experience goes back to 1985, and we can identify a faucet by its design even when the logo has worn off. We match the part to the faucet so the repair holds instead of bringing you back to the same drip.

Licensed

Licensed for the whole sink

A sink is more than a faucet. There is the supply side with its shutoff valves and lines, the drain side with its trap and tailpiece, and often a disposal or dishwasher tied in. A licensed plumber from our team can repair any of it on one visit, and we are licensed and insured for residential and commercial work, so you are not juggling separate trades for one leaking sink.

After having issues with my bathroom and kitchen plumbing for a few days, I contacted Plumber Oklahoma City, OK Plumbing & Repair this morning. He told me he was very busy, but would work to schedule our repair in with his team.

These guys were great! A breath of fresh air from the usual contractor/service. They cared about fixing the problem not how much they can charge. I had a same day service need, leak in between floors, the day before a trip. They came out same day and presented multiple solutions as well as keen explanations.

Straight answers

Faucet & Sink Repair questions, answered

Is a dripping faucet worth fixing?

Yes. EPA WaterSense says a faucet dripping once per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons a year. A drip also means a seal or cartridge is wearing out, and it rarely gets better on its own. Most drips are fixed by replacing the cartridge, stem washer or O-rings rather than the whole faucet.

Why is the water flow from my faucet weak?

If only one faucet is weak, the aerator at the tip of the spout is the usual suspect. Mineral bits and debris collect in its screen, especially after water service has been shut off and turned back on. Unscrew it and rinse it. If the flow is weak at every fixture, the problem is water pressure, not the faucet.

What is a P-trap and why does it leak?

The P-trap is the curved section of drain pipe under the sink. It holds a little water that blocks sewer gas from coming up the drain. Traps leak when slip nuts loosen, washers dry out or old metal traps corrode through. We tighten, reseal or replace the trap and check the tailpiece and drain basket above it.

Should I repair or replace my faucet?

Repair it when the body is in good shape and parts are available. Replace it when the faucet is corroded, the finish is failing, parts are no longer made, or it has leaked into the cabinet more than once. A new bathroom faucet is also a chance to choose a WaterSense model that uses less water.

What should I do if a supply line bursts under the sink?

Close the shutoff valves under the sink by turning them clockwise. If they will not turn or keep leaking, close the main water shutoff. Dry the cabinet and call us. We replace the failed line, and if the valves are old multi-turn stops, we usually suggest quarter-turn valves at the same time.
