Sewer Line Repair & Replacement in Moore, OK

Most sewer line repair in Moore happens in the stretch of pipe you never see: the lateral that runs from your house to the city main. In a boom-era home that pipe may be around half a century old, set in clay that has swelled and shrunk every year since. On a rebuilt lot it may be older than the house. We find out which before we dig.

Why Moore sewer laterals fail

Age is the first reason. The typical Moore house dates to 1987, the Census median for 2020 to 2024, and homes from 1960 through 1989 make up about half the city. A lateral laid in 1972 has spent more than fifty years underground. Depending on the builder, that pipe could be clay tile with joints every few feet, cast iron that rusts from the inside, or early plastic that was not bedded well. Each one fails in its own way.

The soil is the second. Moore's clay swells when wet and shrinks when dry, and that movement works joints loose, cracks rigid pipe and settles sections into sags. The Oklahoma Geological Survey adds a detail that matters for sewers: saturation from rain, lawn watering or sewer leakage can cause major damage in expansive soil. A leaking lateral wets the soil around it, the clay moves more, and the leak gets worse. Left alone, small cracks rarely stay small.

Roots are the third. Mature trees in Moore's older neighborhoods send roots toward the moisture at every leaking joint, and once inside they catch paper and grease until the line blocks.

Rebuilt lots and low ground

NWS Norman counted over 300 homes with EF4 or EF5 damage from the May 20, 2013 tornado, and rebuilt homes now stand on many of those lots. A new house does not always mean a new lateral. If the old line looked usable, it may have been reconnected, even after demolition crews and heavy equipment worked over it. Low ground along the Little River adds another stress. Engineers who redesigned Little River Park describe a site worn down by repeated flooding and erosion, now protected by a regional flood control system for the homes and businesses downstream. Wet, moving ground is hard on buried pipe.

Signs of a failing sewer line

  • Several drains backing up at once, especially the lowest ones
  • Gurgling toilets and slow tubs that cleaning does not fix for long
  • Sewer odor in the yard or a soggy patch over the line
  • An unusually green strip of lawn in a dry spell
  • Repeat root clogs in the same spot

Spot repair or full replacement?

If the camera shows one cracked joint or a single root intrusion in an otherwise sound line, a spot repair makes sense and costs far less. If the line has several breaks, a long sag, or clay tile joints separating along its length, fixing one spot often just moves the next failure a few feet down the pipe. In that case, replacing the run with new pipe, bedded properly so the clay cannot work it loose as easily, is the repair that lasts.

Our sewer repair process

  1. Camera and locate. We inspect the full lateral and mark the problem spots and depth from the surface.
  2. Choose the repair. A spot repair for one broken joint, a section replacement for a sag, or full replacement when the line is failing along its length.
  3. Pick the method. Open trench where it is practical, or trenchless pipe bursting where the yard, driveway or trees make digging costly.
  4. Permit and inspect. We handle the permit when required and leave the work visible until it passes.
  5. Restore and re-check. We backfill, compact and run the camera again so you can see the finished line.

Why Moore calls us for sewer line repair

40+ yrs

Camera first, shovel second

With four decades and more in the trade, we do not recommend digging up a Moore yard on a hunch. We run a camera through the lateral, record what we find, and locate the problem from the surface, so a repair targets the broken section and not the whole yard. You see the footage and can decide with the same information we have.

Licensed

Licensed for work that gets inspected

Sewer laterals tie into the public system, and the work has to meet code and pass inspection. Our plumbers do state-licensed work, and we carry full licensing and insurance. When a Moore sewer repair calls for a permit, we pull it, schedule the inspection and leave the trench open until it passes, so nothing gets buried that should not be.

These guys were great! A breath of fresh air from the usual contractor/service. They cared about fixing the problem not how much they can charge. I had a same day service need, leak in between floors, the day before a trip. They came out same day and presented multiple solutions as well as keen explanations.

Sewer Line Repair in Moore: common questions

Who is responsible for the sewer line in Moore, me or the city?

Typically the homeowner owns and maintains the private lateral from the house to the tap at the public main, and the city maintains the main itself. The Moore Public Works Authority can confirm where its side begins at your address, and we can locate the connection point on camera so you know exactly where the line runs.

My Moore house was rebuilt. Could the sewer line still be old?

It could. When a house is rebuilt on its original lot, the builder may reconnect new plumbing to the existing lateral if it looks usable. That pipe can be decades older than the house and may have been stressed by debris removal and heavy equipment. A camera inspection tells you its condition, which is worth knowing before buying or selling.

Can my sewer line be replaced without digging up the whole yard?

Often, yes. Trenchless methods such as pipe bursting replace the lateral through small access pits at each end, which spares driveways, fences and mature trees. They are not right for every line, especially one with a severe sag or collapsed sections, so we camera the pipe first and tell you which method fits.
