Water Leak Detection & Repair in Yukon, OK

Good water leak detection in Yukon saves more than your water bill. The city draws from 15 wells and buys the rest of its water from Oklahoma City, and it is already searching for new sources to keep up with demand. We find hidden leaks in walls, slabs, yards and sprinkler lines with as little digging as possible, then fix them.

Every gallon counts in Yukon

Most of Yukon's 15 wells sit on Oklahoma City airport land under a use agreement that ends in December 2035, and the city buys the rest of its water from Oklahoma City, News 9 reported in October 2026. City officials are testing deep wells in Bethany as a possible new source, and the city manager told the station he expects water to become more valuable than gold.

The city already keeps a permanent odd-even outdoor watering schedule and adds restrictions when Oklahoma City does. In that setting, a hidden leak is more than a line on your bill. It is treated water lost from a supply the whole town shares. Finding it early also protects your home from the slow damage that leaks do inside walls and under floors.

Check your meter first

You can confirm a leak yourself before you call:

  1. Shut everything off. Make sure no faucets, toilets, the ice maker, the washer or the sprinklers are running.
  2. Read the meter. Open the meter box near the street and look for the small leak indicator, usually a triangle or dial.
  3. Watch it. If the indicator moves with everything off, water is leaving the system somewhere.
  4. Shut the house valve. If the indicator stops when you close the main shutoff at the house, the leak is inside. If it keeps moving, the leak is likely underground between the meter and the house.

Underground water leak detection

Between your meter and the house, the service line is buried in Yukon's reddish silty clay loam subsoil, with shale below it in places. That ground is hard on buried pipe. The city traced its own September 2026 main break on SW 29th Street to shale eroding around the pipe. Private service lines face the same conditions.

Underground leaks don't always surface where they start. Water can follow the pipe trench and pop up yards away, or soak into the soil and never show at all. We use acoustic ground microphones to listen for the leak along the line, trace the pipe route, and mark the spot before digging. If the line is worn along its length, replacing it is often the better choice, and water service work is a listed item on the City of Yukon's permit schedule with its own water line inspection.

Leaks we find most often in Yukon homes

  • Toilets with worn flappers or fill valves that run silently
  • Water heater relief valves and supply connections
  • Irrigation lines, valves and backflow devices in the yard
  • Hot and cold supply lines under slab floors
  • Service lines between the meter and the house
  • Hose bibs and pipes in exterior walls after a freeze

After we find it

We explain where the leak is, what caused it and how we plan to fix it before we open anything. Many repairs happen the same visit. Once the line is fixed, we run the meter test again so you can see the indicator stand still. If the leak is under your slab, our Yukon slab leak repair page walks through the options. For methods, equipment and cost factors, see our main water leak detection and repair page, and for local background, our Yukon plumber page.

Why Yukon calls us for water leak detection

Since 1985

Leaks found with tools, not shovels

Our plumbing experience goes back to 1985, including finding hidden leaks. We start with a meter test to confirm the leak and get a sense of its size, then isolate sections of the system and use acoustic listening and thermal imaging to narrow it down. The goal is one small, accurate opening instead of trenches across your yard or exploratory holes in every wall.

Licensed

Underground and slab leaks handled

Finding the leak is half the job. Our licensed team also repairs whatever we find, from a single leaking fitting inside a wall to a full replacement of the water service line out to the meter. When a repair means a new water service line, we file the city permit and book the water line inspection so the work is on record.

24/7

Help when the meter won't stop spinning

A fast leak can't wait for Monday. We answer 24/7, help you shut off the main or isolate the leaking line, and come out to find it. Customers rate us 4.9 stars on 88 Google reviews, and much of that comes from careful work in finished homes. Financing is available if the leak points to a larger replacement such as a new service line.

These guys were great! A breath of fresh air from the usual contractor/service. They cared about fixing the problem not how much they can charge. I had a same day service need, leak in between floors, the day before a trip. They came out same day and presented multiple solutions as well as keen explanations.

Water Leak Detection in Yukon: common questions

Is a leak near my water meter the city's problem or mine?

In most cases, a leak on the street side of the meter or at the meter itself is the city's to fix, and you should call the City of Yukon. A leak between the meter and your house is on the private side, which is where we come in. If you aren't sure, we can check the meter box and tell you which side it is on.

How much water can a small leak waste?

More than most people expect. According to IBHS research, a crack the width of one-eighth of an inch can spill more than 250 gallons in 24 hours. A toilet flapper that won't seal or a dripping irrigation valve wastes less, but it runs every hour of every day until someone fixes it, and it shows up on your bill.
